New Reception Starters: After-School Club Information 2026/2

 Starting Reception is a huge new adventure, and we are so excited to welcome our newest Adventurers and their families to Nourished Routes! 🌈💚

Helen and the whole Nourished Routes team know that starting school, and beginning After-School Club, can feel like a big transition for both children and parents. Our priority is to help every new Reception Adventurer feel safe, settled, confident and part of our Nourished Routes family from the very beginning.

As Reception children have a staggered start to the school year, our new Reception Adventurers will be welcomed to After-School Club from Monday 14th September 2026.

This gives children time to begin settling into their new school routines before adding After-School Club to their week.

Every Reception Adventurer will be assigned a Nourished Routes staff member as their key worker.

Their key worker will take a special interest in helping them settle in, getting to know their personality, interests, needs and routines, and being a familiar, reassuring grown-up they can turn to during their time with us.

They will also help us build a strong relationship with you as their parent or carer, so that we can work together to support your child as they settle into both school and After-School Club.

Each new Reception Adventurer will also be paired with an older child as their Nourished Routes Buddy.

Our older Adventurers will help welcome them into the club, show them where things are, introduce them to activities and routines, and help them feel part of the group.

It is a lovely way for our youngest children to have another friendly, familiar face, while giving our older Adventurers the opportunity to develop kindness, confidence, responsibility and leadership skills.

We understand that every child settles differently. Some children will bounce through the door ready to explore, while others may need a little more time, reassurance and familiarity.

Our team will work closely with each family to make the transition as positive as possible, with plenty of warmth, encouragement and communication along the way.

We cannot wait to welcome our new Reception Adventurers from 14th September 2026 and begin this exciting new chapter together! 💚
