OUR MISSION, GOALS & VISION

Nourished Routes CIC is a non-profit organisation delivering high-quality cooking and nutrition education as the foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing.

We support children and young people from birth (through their parents and carers) up to the age of 18, including those who are home-educated or not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET). Our work is rooted in the local community and designed to be inclusive, practical, and empowering.

At Nourished Routes, food is never taught in isolation. What we eat, how we move, and how we feel are deeply connected, and our programmes are designed to reflect this. Cooking and nutrition sit at the centre of our work, with physical activity and mental wellbeing intentionally integrated to support the whole child.

Our mission is to empower children and young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to nourish their bodies and minds.

We do this by:

  • Championing cooking and nutrition education through hands-on food preparation, practical life skills, and age-appropriate nutrition theory.

  • Connecting food to physical health and movement, helping children understand how nutrition fuels energy, growth, strength, and everyday activity.

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive self-esteem, using food education, body-positive messages, and creative wellbeing activities to build confidence and healthy relationships with food and self.

We aim to create meaningful, lasting impact by:

  • Reducing health inequalities and improving access to high-quality nutrition education and health-promoting opportunities within the local community.

  • Supporting healthy weight and active lifestyles, through education that links balanced nutrition with enjoyable movement and physical confidence.

  • Improving physical and mental wellbeing, with services focused on prevention, early intervention, and positive, strengths-based health promotion.

Our vision is a community of thriving, confident children and young people who understand how to care for their bodies and minds.

Through a strong foundation in cooking and nutrition education, supported by movement and wellbeing practices, we aim to equip every child we work with to make informed choices and to live in a state of optimum nutritional, physical, and mental wellbeing.
