Nourished Routes CIC was founded by trained chef and Managing Director Helen Mullings, whose work sits at the intersection of food, wellbeing, and education.
Helen’s love of baking and cooking began in childhood and grew alongside a firm belief that cooking, food, and nutrition should be a compulsory part of the national curriculum. As she often says, “We eat for the rest of our lives, so we should understand how to cook and what we’re putting into our bodies.”
While completing her BSc (Hons) in Culinary Arts Management, Helen developed a strong understanding of the scientific connection between the mind, body, and gut. This knowledge became practical and transformative during her work as a nanny, where she supported families facing challenges such as insomnia, food aversion, and difficult behaviour. By combining thoughtful nutritional changes, bespoke physical activity, and simple mindfulness techniques, Helen helped children and families achieve meaningful, lasting improvements.
Guided by the belief that prevention is better than cure, Helen founded Nourished Routes to empower children and young people with the skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to achieve and maintain lifelong wellbeing.
